Hermann Area District Hospital Board of Directors Minutes
Article Date: August 25, 2014
The Board of Directors of the Hermann Area District Hospital held their regular meeting on the evening of August 25, 2014. The Board reviewed operational and financial data showing that operations continue to show a loss due to declining revenue. The Board reviewed options to restore financial strength by efforts to recruit physicians and working with Mercy to have more of their specialists visiting our hospital and in efforts to reduce expenses most notably through oversight of our pharmacy and employee health. Besides having Jennifer Broeder-Allen, M.D. rejoin our medical staff in late 2015, the Board is also looking to add several other physicians within the hospital clinics and at the hospital. Another area of potential growth will come through the newly created Hermann Area District Hospital Foundation, which recently received its Internal Revenue 501c3 not-for-profit designation.
The Board approved several agreements in the meeting to help bolster current and future activity.
Two new specialty clinics from Mercy were added, Dr. David Glover and Dr. Craig Holzem. We will also be holding Audiology clinics with Amy Fleming, AuD and Cynthia Modrosic, M.S., F-AAA.
After holding a public hearing the board approved an operational tax levy of 70.26¢ per $100 assessed valuation. The levy will raise around $836,000 which is annually obligated towards paying the revenue construction bond payment of $1.1 million.
